Show Me the Light

Show Me the Light

If you love photography then I definitely recommend the XL:19 exhibit at the MOMA. This collection of work is visually stimulating and extremely interesting. My favorite pieces were done by Yto Barrada.

At first, I had assumed that Yto Barrada’s work was simply for decorative means. I learned that Yto Barrada’s pieces were much more meaningful and deeper than that. In fact, his photos were really a set of instructions for people to escape. After reading the artist’s intent it made me think about so many different things. Most of all it made me think of language. As literate people we take for granted the ability to read. Well, what about those who cannot read? Yto Barrada wanted to guide the illiterate.
