For those looking for inspiration for the upcoming photo essay, I highly suggest taking a look at LightBox — a collaborative blog put together by Time Magazine’s entire photo staff. They consistently post amazing photojournalism pieces as well as beautifully captured moments from photographers in the field and profiles of photography legends.
Just a few days ago they posted a feature about James Nachtwey, a photographer who has been on contract with Time for 30 years. His work is striking and some of it is on display at Photoville in Brooklyn.
Photoville is a really awesome annual event, held in Brooklyn Bridge Park, where all kinds of photographers come together to exhibit their work. I suggest getting some friends together and spending a few hours there walking around the containers and attending some workshops. I’ve been two years in a row and never been disappointed!
