Since I am having difficulty adding media to my blog posts, I will delay my Bottle Project post and share a couple of neat little design-related things that I have been really into the past few weeks.
- Design Matters with Debbie Millman is a podcast in which Millman, a writer, educator, artist, brand consultant, interviews graphic designers, product designers, and other visual artists–including very well known designers such as Massimo Vignelli, Bob Gill, Michael Bierut, and others. I cannot even tell you how much I learn from listening to this podcast. From tips about how these designers work, what motivates them, where they get their inspiration, and what they think is fun and exciting in graphic design.
- The Grolier Club is America’s oldest (1884) society for book lovers & graphic arts fans. They have two rotating exhibits that are free to the public and super cool. One of the current exhibits is “Illustrated by Lynd Ward, From the Collection of Robert Dance,” which provides an overview of Ward’s illustrations and achievments, including 60 artworks. Ward is known for “wordless novels” and is cited as a precursor to modern graphic novels.
- Swiss-Miss.com is a design blog run by Tina Roth Eisenberg. It’s awesome. She started it as a means of collecting all the great design that she is drawn to and it is a great resource to scroll through and see really beautiful things.
